Makayla Canady

Hey there everyone! My name is Makayla Canady and I've been a lover of dance ever since I can remember. To be exact, I've been dancing since I was 2 years old and have continued to do so ever since. I grew up dancing at Dance Connection in Shallotte and I also had the opportunity to attend Amy's Academy of Dance Arts in Chadbourn and the Academy of Dance and Fine Arts in North Myrtle Beach once I became a teenager. During my time at these wonderful studios, I was trained in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop, and even clogging! I'm scheduled to graduate from Appalachian State University in May of 2021 with a bachelor of the arts degree in Dance Studies. My time at ASU gifted me with a much greater understanding of african dance, hip-hop, and modern dance. My biggest passion is creating and teaching choreography and I've been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to choreograph and teach many pieces in my time. I never intend to stop and I can't wait to see what the future holds. I'm so very eager and excited to spread my knowledge and love for this beautiful art form with the students of Brunswick School of Dance!
